Pirates of the Caribbean

The holiday was fantastic. Quent said it was the best holiday he has ever had. He loved the sailing, snorkelling, sandcastles, sun etc. He didn’t get to read much, but when he did it was a BVI Yacht and Property magazine he picked up along the way!

Oakley loved the flotilla and the flotilla loved him. The Americans declared him “so cute” and “so smart” and the Brits said he had been a joy. He helped Quent anchor, helmed a little, pulled on ropes and corrected us if we got it wrong – like forgetting to put the anchor light on. He now uses terms like navigation buoys, catamaran, cockpit etc with ease – in fact he only needed telling once and he had it sussed. Unlike his mother. Since he has been home, he has moored the kitchen chair to the cupboard handle and tied himself to the Tesco trolley. He loves his knots. Just like his father.

The scenery was breathtaking. Bounty beaches – real tropical islands with coral reefs, turquoise waters and white sand the consistency of flour. The photos describe it better than I can:

Fantastic pictures! I'm glad to hear that you've all had the best time.
A tv program we watched once suggested to carry on wearing your sunglasses after a break to keep that holiday feeling. (works for us ;)
Thanks for the update and hopefully see you soon!

Wow - what amazing photos. I have been trying hard for once not to think of you guys that last few weeks but it didn't work! Wish I'd been there.

Just in case you are wondering - it's been drizzling ever since you left the UK! Can't see why you turned up the chance to sail on the Solent in rain... :-)

Glad to see that you have now been bitten by the Caribbean bug. It's really hard to explain to people just how good it actually is. The stress of sipping rum punch whilst deciding wether to go diving, sailing, adventuring or just chill out and relax sometimes just gets too much, but you all look like you just about managed it. Great pic's, see you all soon.

I fell in love with Oakley in the BVI!!!

I was one of the very lucky people to be on the same flotilla as Quentin, Helen and little Oakley.

Love and sand dogs, Karen x
