Yes, they are all months in which Quent has had a CLEAR SCAN! Ten in all and each time, words cannot express how delighted - and especially how grateful - we are.
With the help of Dr Savage, we managed to get Quent to the top hospital with the top treatment and the top Doctor for his illness. Other hospitals were recommending no or different treatment and we are convinced that Quent would not be with us today if we'd accepted their advice. Don't get me wrong, they were good hospitals and good Doctors, doing their best for Quentin - but in our case their best wasn't as good as The Christie's best.We know that many cancer patients read this blog and our advice to you is to check out all the options. However much you trust the team you're under, there might just be a better treatment out there and it might just save your life.
Which leads me on to developments at The Christie. We met Jack Millar, one of the Fundraising Managers, before going for the scan and he told us of their vast ambition and excellent results. The hospital continues to grow and develop, adding new treatments, new treatment centres, new research centres, mobile chemotherapy units, beds for visiting relatives, a Maggie centre and so on. They strive for the best in every area of the cancer journey (research, education, treatment, pastoral care etc.). It's very exciting stuff! The Government has announced a £150m grant for two Proton B treatment centres in the UK, from 2017 (currently there are none), one at The Christie and one at UCLH, in London. UK cancer patients, especially children and brain cancer patients, currently often raise money for Proton B treatment in the USA. And Prof Hawkin's pioneering stem cell treatment continues with excellent results, particularly on stomach and skin cancer.

Excellent news. Praying it continues that way. There's no doubt Christies deserve more recognition for the work they are doing.
What a fitting header, together with amazing news.
I posted back in June re my partner who has renal cell cancer. He will be starting radiotherapy on Mon (at Christie) followed by a round of il2 (6th cycle). All going in the right direction just a long journey, you no doubt remember! One final nodule on the left lung to target, which is a much better position. Anyhow all the best and hopefully my partner will be starting a clear scan date list like Quentin sometime soon.
Regards Becky
We do hope so, Becky!
Good luck to you both... we certainly remember the journey and can confirm it's very nice when you come through it all.
well - true to form, late as usual. Great news that another clear one has been notched up. Keep on notching. Lots of love. Jen H
