Prodigal Quent

Quent returned to work this week (in the office every other day, and working from home in between). He has really enjoyed seeing everyone - and the warm welcome he's been given.

Tonight we popped over to Rickmansworth so that he could go to Scouts. The Explorers were equally delighted to see him (and he them) - I didn't go in but I could hear their welcome as I turned the car outside.

No wonder he's getting out and about. Weeping is bound to be on the long list of new driving offences, so I had better pull myself together or risk a custodial sentence. Apologies to anyone who has seen me "on the brink" over the past few days - and to the whole of Chiswick which is now on an amber flood alert.

We have a great weekend lined up - if Thomas the Tank and Father Christmas don't cheer me up, then the Scout Panto is bound to.

Oh yes it will...

Have just read your news from the last couple of days and am so sorry to hear that it isn't what we had all hoped .... those bloooooooody spots!!
Have a desperate urge to get in my car - drive down the M4, and call in just to see and hug you all.... but will contain myself because I don't think either you or Quent need to see a blubbering, out of control bird!!
As ever, please let us know if we can do anything - all our love and prayers to you all. So looking forward to seeing you on 24th Dec.

Bloody hell Helen. Just got your christmas card and have spent the last hour going through all of your entries and the comments from friends and family that have been posted over the last couple of months. You are an inspiration and I am astounded by the strength and posivity with which you have approached Quent's cancer. I, on the otherhand, am sitting here in Sydney, a bawling mess. I'm so sorry about the recent spot news and am thinking of you all. I hope you have a lovely Christmas with all your loved ones and I have everything crossed for Quent in 2007. He WILL beat it.
Lots of Love

Ah, the scout panto. Always the most prestigious show to perform in when you're 12 years old...but slightly harder work when you have to sit through it from the other side.

Glad you're out and about Quent - nothing like feeling the luurve from those who haven't seen you for a while.

Obviously, shitty news about the spots, but I know both of you will be finding good things to focus on and still laughing every day despite the challenges you are facing.

lots of positive vibes and lots of love

Have you guys seen the new 'Spamalot' musical yet? Caught it on Broadway a few months back - hugely funny and includes a very fitting song from another Python film. I think we all know how it goes...
What's your whistling like?

All my best,

Ben xx

Well there is only one thing for it Quent, when the usher at Santas grotto says next please, push Oakley out of the way, sit on Santa's knee & see what he has in his big red sack for you... you never know...... if nothing else you might get a train set...

keep your spirits up, in fact have a couple yourself over the next couple of weeks. See you in January I hope

Heard a rumour that Q was not in the greatest of health but had no idea of what was occurring. Have read a load of the blog and can't begin to comprehend what you are all going through. Having known Q for a while I know he will get through this and that there will be positive vibes being fed in his direction from all his hundreds of friends scattered to the four corners of the world.
All our best wishes for 2007. Glenn and Jane.

Hi Helen.Another christmas card reader and have also spent an age reading through your site - the first time on a blog! We have had a year with dad and Cancer ops and he seems to have got away with it. Keep positive is what everyones says. I have a friend who has turned back the time on bone cancer leaving doctors astounded. Lots of odd food and meditation alongside standard treatments, but it is retreating. So if you want addition ammunition to beat the bastard then let me know! I will make that call to you in January, in the mean time, take care and try to enjoy a bit of Christmas.

Hey Helen and Quentin....just opened your card and have immediately read the whole blog. Helen - you are proof of the old adage - once a lastminute girl always a lastminute girl. Anyway for holidays even cheaper than that why don't you go and have a break in our cottage in Winchelsea - its free ! Near Rye and utterly beautiful spot. 1 mile to sea and stunning country on doorstep. Let me know if you fancy. Meanwhile if you would like a girls' lunch (yes both of you)let me know. Quentin - best wishes for some good news soon. Paul D XXXX
