Vuvuzelas at the ready

We were delighted that so many people crowded together in South Africa to celebrate Quent's latest (clear) scan result. We didn't know the blog had such a strong following over there. A few were so delighted they ran excitedly around the field for an hour and a half. It was even on the tele. They had really loud trumpets - but then it is big news. And tonight the pubs of England were full of people continuing the praise of Christie's. So many of them had thought to wear a red cross, as a tribute to the nursing profession. It's touching, it really is.

We celebrated in Chiswick too...husband took the afternoon off to go and celebrate in a pub with 4 other friends who have never even met Quent. They were thrilled to have a chance to raise their glasses to him and in honour of all those wonderful staff at Christie's felt it was only appropriate to stay out until 1am and come back smelling like Fullers brewery!

Helen, I bumped into Quent outside home on Sunday, good to see him looking so well. I hadn't visited your blog for a while but it, you and him have been a real inspiration since I first read it. Even more so now as my son Alex (2) was diagnosed with cancer in mid May and is undergoing treatment at John Radcliffe in Oxford. I set up a blog as a direct copy of yours, only wordier and not as good or funny, but give it time. It works for me and Alex's support group for now. You can view it at alexsharpsblog.wordpress.com. Thanks for the good example and let's hope Alex's recovery follows Quent's only without the extreme illness and discomfort parts. Best wishes, Ben Sharp
