A sad day

Today is a very sad day, as we heard that our little friend Alex lost his battle with cancer yesterday.

Alex was 5. He spent half of his life fighting very bravely and smiling away in between countless trips to hospital.

It goes to show that the fight against cancer is not won. Fortunately there are more and more success stories like Quent's, but there are still many like Alex who are not as lucky. Thank goodness for the Prof and others like him, who continue to work tirelessly to overcome this awful disease.

And for every Alex there are family whose lives will never be the same again. Alex' parents, Ben and Miranda chased down every treatment option, as we did but with tragically different outcomes. In addition to this, Ben wrote an amazing blog and continues to campaign tirelessly for the Neuroblastoma Society.

Our thoughts are with Ben, Miranda and Jennifer, Alex' 8 year old sister.

As someone said to me today, there are no words...

Very sad so very young.

I know we dont know each other. I posted previously re my partner who was going through renal cell cancer treatment with the Prof. Unfortunately Bruce lost his battle and passed away 23rd March. He had his 47th birthday on 7th March. Still too young!

All the best
Becky

Oh,Becky. I am so very sorry that Bruce lost his battle - and at such a young age. Our thoughts are with you and your family. One step at a time.

Ben, Alex's father has written beautifully about what they are going through and I hope it might be of some comfort to you at such a difficult time. www.alexsharpsblog.wordpress.com
